Meet Justine

Based on the coast of stunning Western Australia, Justine of @justy_olive chats to us about motherhood, her 3 beautiful daughters, family life and her plans for summer.

You’re the mamma of 3 beautiful girls. Tell us a little about your family.

There’s my husband Gabriel, myself (Justine), Olivia who is 8, Adele who is nearly 6 and Penelope 9 months old.

You are from stunning WA, what are your must see family destinations.

I think WA is very family friendly. We love taking short drives up north for the day, Wedge Island is a favourite as the beach there is incredible. The  South West is another destination we love as a family. Yallingup  is so beautiful and serene. We have a couple trips there planned for the next month!

Justine wears the Ace & Jig Suit Up Jumpsuit in Madras which can be found here.

What  do you love about where you live?

I’ve lived in a few different spots around the world. California, Sydney and I’ve ended up in WA. I love the laid back life style and the white sandy beaches in WA. Every beach here is so picturesque, I love it!

What is your favourite family weekend outing?

I know there’s a bit of a theme here going, but our favourite family outing in summer would have to be a day at the beach, followed by fish and chips (and a beer for the adults) and not leaving until the sun has set over the horizon. Closely followed in second place would be an evening at Hillarys Boat Harbour (Olivia chose this as her favourite outing, however the beach won the majority of our votes) 😉 In summer the Harbour has Fair games and rides that the girls love. They save their pocket money for this and splurge big time! It’s definitely good fun!

Cant leave home without…

My baby, she’s attached to my hip at the moment. Haha! And also water, Chapstick and On Guard hand sanitiser! And nappies and baby wipes of course.

Tell us about your daily rituals...

I usually always start my day with Penelope cuddles in bed. After she feeds we get up and say bye to the girls. I’m lucky enough to have my hubby do  the morning school run. Then we have breakfast (and coffee) together. She still has a morning and afternoon nap, so I am usually home for those and working while she naps. At lunch we either go out, run errands, go for a walk or meet friends for lunch. After we pick up the girls from school they almost always go straight to the backyard and play together until I call them in at 5. Gabriel comes home from work (unless he’s been working from home), we have dinner and a couple hours of family time together until the crazy bedtime routine starts. Once the girls are in bed I catch up on work and emails, or me and Gabriel just crash on the couch! Apologies if you were hoping for a more exciting day, haha!

Favourite thing to do when you have time to yourself.

Hmm that is extremely rare, I usually always have a baby attached to me.  But if the rare opportunity presents I love going for walks or jogs on my own. Or just taking a shower without a crowd haha!

What has motherhood taught you?

Patience and what tiredness feels like.  To listen to your own advice sometimes over what others may be telling you they think is right. Motherhood has also taught me that there isn’t always a right answer and sometimes you just have to go with your gut and hope for the best! But mainly it has taught me what unconditional love feels like.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Sleep as much as you can now and go to bed early because soon sleep will be a thing of the past!

What has been the most challenging part of motherhood?

All the guilt that comes with motherhood. I knew what I was getting myself into with the sleepless nights and pure exhaustion from raising children, but this mothers guilt has got me good!

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing when you were pregnant with your first, what would it be?

Cherish every single moment because you blink and it’s gone!

Must have summer wardrobe pieces from Tiny People for you and the girls?

Numero 74 would have to be my must have this summer for all of us! Timeless and simple easy to wear pieces. We’ll be living in them all summer!  I also can’t go past those cute little rompers by Peggy.

We loved seeing you in the beautiful Ace & Jig Jumpsuit, tell us about why you love it!

Thank you! I love this jumpsuit a lot! It’s so comfortable and easy to wear. I’ve already worn it with a denim jacket and I know it’s going to be worn to death this summer with a simple pair of sandals.
